Mental health problems are widespread. According to rough estimates, 10% of the population suffers from these, thereby affecting the country’s workforce and economic output. It’s time governments at the local and central levels innovated (for instance, train ASHAs who do house-to-house checks for infectious diseases to look for signs of depression as well) to come up with ways to handle society's mental health burden.
